Computer Art and Design

Primary School students learn about the elements of design through hands-on studio experiences.  Building on this understanding, students use a variety of computer programs to express themselves creatively.  Classroom projects are enhanced with the help of technology to create symbols, demonstrate sequencing, design reports, and illustrate stories and ideas.

In fifth through eighth grades, Middle School students extend their understanding of the computer as a visual art tool by scanning images, manipulating images in PhotoShop, using WordArt to compose and design layouts and to create concrete poetry.

Technology plays an important role in the arts in the Upper School. Students learn the nuances of digital photography and utilize the technology in many ways as part of their photo curriculum. Classes are offered in computer art where students utilize both PC and Macintosh computers for visual problem solving. A variety of high-end peripherals are made available to students in order for them to stay current with technological advances in image making. Video production is also offered as an option for an art class. Students work alone and in groups to produce videos of all types.
