Power of the Pen
Power of the Pen is an organization that supports and develops student writing. Members participate in a state-wide writing convention each Spring. Coaches for the 2011-2012 school year are Kathleen Shields and Jeanne Regan.

The winning never gets old! For the fifth year in a row, Laurel’s Power of the Pen creative writing Seventh and Eighth Grade teams have brought home multiple trophies, including a 1st Place Team! There are three ways a school can be recognized at this Ohio interscholastic competition for young writers... individually, with a “Best of Round” award, and overall team trophies. At the district Power of the Pen tournament last year, Laurel School was recognized in all three ways at both grade levels. Stay tuned for results from the regionals and state tournaments later in the year. |
