The Laurel School mission statement is succinct:
“To inspire each girl to fulfill her promise and to better the world.”
At Laurel, definitions of excellence are broad. Our mission requires breadth in opportunity and in definitions of success. We work with highly motivated college-bound students in a learning environment charged by both ambition and ability. Their abilities and promise are cultivated in all scholastic areas through a strong, robust, and pedagogically informed curriculum that includes broad exposure to all areas of academics, arts, and athletics. We also work hard to develop the leadership skills in each student. Focusing on the abilities and promise of each girl, and making that the focal point of every teacher’s job every day, is what makes teaching at Laurel School special.
Our teachers join in developing curricula that reflect and drive our mission and believe that teaching to a wide variety of learning styles is vital. Laurel teachers are also asked to reflect on seminal pieces of research that inform how girls learn.
